Whether it has been the lure of its deep holes to spear fish, its shallows in which to wade in the spring, or its swinging bridge of ro- mantic memory, the creek has played an important part in the lives of those near it. Over this stream have come students and teachers daily on their way to the School-on-the-Hill. not merely to absorb knowledge for the enrichment of their own lives, but to give as well to the service of others. Perhaps it is the historic aspect of the Canadaway that has created the fancy for it, for it was near its banks that the first settlers of what is now the village of Fredonia came to make their homes. Since that time the Canadaway has not changed: it is only the settlement around it which has changed -- not in feeling toward the stream, but in growth. As time passes the memory of the school and the community on the banks of this gently winding stream will grow more cherished. It is the hoped of this year's annual staff that the 1942 Hill- topper will help to keep fresh the memories of school days ALONG THE WINDING CANADAWAY.
