Treasurer The National Honor Society is more than an association of students of high scholastic attainments. Its aim is to stimulate the character. scholarship. leadership and service of the students of the secondary schools of this country. It also aims to raise the high schools of the United States to a higher plane. The society was organized in 1921. The first charter was granted to Fifth Avenue High School, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Today there are more than 2400 chapters. The constitution permits the election each year of ten percent of the senior class and five percent of the junior class. The charter of Fredonia High School is dated October 26, 1940. Its number is 2434. The charter members in the Fredonia Chapter are eighteen in num- ber, fourteen seniors and four juniors. Beginning with the fall of 1941 the collegiate custom of tapping will be employed in the formal induction ceremony. We all join in congratulating those who are first to be elected to membership in the Fredonia High School National Honor Society. Smlml. It-fl lo riizht: XVilliam I.arson.
