Pruilf announced recenlly his resignalion of fha? office. In his oulslandirig career over Ihe years, Mr. Pruill has seen many of his educalional dreams become a realily. There are many highlighls in Mr, Pruifrs service To Frederick Counly. Numerous building proiecls are a living memorial lo his adminislralion. Nolable among these is our own Frederick I-ligh School, housing over lhirleen hundred sfudenls, capably slalled, soundly financed, and a lasling fribule To Ihe man whose dream became a realify. During his adminislrarion, over-all improvemenfs have been made in school slruclures. many maierials and books have been provided for 'reachers and pupils, and growlh along professional lines has been encouraged.

Among These are The agriculTure building which is rapidly nearing compleTion and The new Junior I-ligh School which will also become a parT oT our own high school campus. THIRTEEN NEW BUILDINGS Since l948, ThirTeen new buildings or addiTions have been compIe+ed and maior improvemenTs have been made aT six schools. The new schools in Frederick in- clude The NorTh Frederick and The EasT Frederick Schools. AclcliTions have been compleTed on Lincoln High School and Elm STreeT Junior I-ligh School, and maior improvemenTs have been made on oTher Freder- ick schools such as NorTh MarkeT and WashingTon STreeT elemenTary schools. The TirsT schools consTrucTed under Mr. PruiTT's ad- minisTraTion are aT PoinT oT Rocks and CaTocTin Furnace, Tinanced by P.W.A, Tunds in I939. PROFESSIONAL LEADERSHIP From I938 To I95O Mr. PruiTT was Maryland DirecTor OT The NaTional EducaTional AssociaTion, and he sTimu- laTed membership in ThaT organizaTion ThroughouT The sTaTe. Upon compleTion oT his Term as DirecTor, The Teachers oT Frederick CounTy presenTed him wiTh liTe membership in The AssociaTion. T-le also served on The Maryland CommiTTee OT Su- perinTendenTs which worked wiTh oTher sTaTe educaTional groups. IT was Through These ThaT The presenT sTaTe salary scale Tor Teachers was recommended. Along wifh his oTher duTies, Mr. PruiTT gave oi his Time and energy To The program oT The Maryland STaTe Teachers' AssociaTion, I-le served as PresidenT OT The AssociaTion during The school year l945-l946 and as a member OT The ExecuTive ComrniTTee OT The organi- zaTion Trom IQ38 To l94l. CAPABLE ADMINISTRATOR When Mr, PruiTT arrived in The cOunTy, he Tound 8 schools in exisTence-28 OT Them one room schools. Today There are 35 schools-Three oT Them one room schools. In l932 There were 320 Teachers and lO,33O children in The schools. Now There are 425 Teachers and l2.4OO pupils. During his adrninisTraTion The supervisory sTaTT OT The counTy has increased Trom Tive To Ten. The appropria- Tion Tor books and maTerials has increased Trom Sl3,l I3 To S6l.205.
