H illan Dedicated ln lite ln an interview with a student early in the year the president of the college related the occasion for making the decision to accept such a monumental task. When the Board of Trustees approached him about taking the position, he hesitated. After some deliberation he had his decision. The reason he gave was that I have always been, to my knowledge, fair and honest with the students of Frederick, and l feel that if I accept this job they will be fair and honest with me and give me their fullest co- operation which would be necessary if the College is to succeed. To students who have dealt with and known Dr. Ernest R. Wood, there is no doubt that the above statement is probably the most objective appraisal that anyone could give of the man, and it is ironic that it came from Dr. Wood himself. While oc- cupying two positions of responsibility which kept him busy every minute of the day, he was never too busy to help a student with whatever problems were facing him. His warm smile and friendly handshake have become a tradition all their own at Frederick and both have given many students the ambition to carry on and finish what they started. It is to Dr. Wood, the man who has been a source of inspiration, a dear friend, and helping hand when needed that we dedicate the 1966 DRIFTWOOD. fn.. Dr. Ernest R. Wood, President of the College and Acting Dean Lance Siedel is awarded a cum laude tassel at commencement.
