The students felt that they were to be a very definite part of the history of Frederick College as they were its first students. Days, weeks and months of planning, hoping and dreaming became a reality on this bright September day. Dormitories had been readied, faculty and staff had arrived, classrooms, cafeteria and all the other phases of the college life were in readiness for this first and important student body. Frederick College came into being as a result of an idea and a dream of Mr. Fred W. Beazley, a native of Portsmouth, Virginia. To carry out his dream Mr. Beazley along with his wife Marie C. Beazley and Fred W. Beazley, Jr., established the Beazley Foundation in 1948. One of the expressed purposes of the Foundation was to establish in Portsmouth Frederick College. During the ten years Mr. Beazley, his wife and son gave of their time and talents and money to make it possible for worthy young people to have an education. It is a tribute to the Beazley family that they have devoted their energies to the creation of a school which will serve and help to mold and develop young men into fine citizens. EO Tere Plo N In grateful appreciation for the vision, generosity, and interest shown by the founder of Frederick College, we the students dedicate this our first annual, Few men have had the devotion and the spirit that has enabled them to devote their time, talents and mon ey to the interest of young people as demonstrated by Mr. Fred W. Beazley. ident Pres Blanchard, illard J WwW PRESIDENTS MESSAGE In September, 1958, we began the first year of school life at Frederick College. The empty buildings and campus became alive as we began to establish a routine, soon to become familiar and more distinct and vital. The college became fresh with ambition, different desires, and progressive physical changes in the campus. You, the first students, will go down in the history of the college with the establishment of precedents through your college work. | take this opportunity to express my appreciation to you, the students of Frederick College, for investing your faith in this new institution, as has been shown by your attitude during the past year. It is my hope that all enrolled in this college will emerge with a great amount of academic, moral, and physical betterment. We will view with great anticipation your progress in realizing your ambitions in life and our sincere interest will always be with you. vA 3 | | t x Es , 2 Ime URE IE Ye MAJ. WILLIAM ANGEL MRS.
