MUSIC VOCAL BAND MRS. CHESTER SHIELDS, born in Memphis, graduated from Central High, School, received her B.S. and M.A. degrees from Memphis State, and also graduated from Theodore Bohlmann School of Music and Juilliard Music School in New York City. She maiored in choral conducting and group voice training. Mrs. Shields taught at Holly- wood Junior High before coming to F.H.S. this year. Mrs. Shields belongs to the Beethoven Club, is on the Board of Directors of the Memphis Opera Theater, and attends the Highland Heights Presbyterian Church, where she directs the choir. SECRETARIES 'W l A 5 .3 ai m' l , g XY y 1 Xi' l up B W. R. PETREMAN really traveled before coming to F.H.S. nine years ago. He was born in Zion, lllinois, graduated from Evander High School, New York City, received his B.A. de- gree from Ouachita Baptist College, Arkadelphia, Arkansas, and taught in Texarkana, Arkansas. Mr. Petreman belongs to many professional organizations and is a member of the Frayser Baptist Church, where he is choir director. He is married and has two children, Claire Elaine and Paul. MRS. LAURA ELIZABETH FRANKLIN is one of the most widely traveled secretaries in the system. Her family, which includes two sons, take to the highways and water- ways every summer. Mrs. Franklin was educated in Knoxville, Tennessee, where she graduated from Central High School. She also graduated from Draughon's Busi- ness College in Memphis. She has been in the office of F.H.S. since 1953. Mr. and Mrs. Franklin and sons are all active members of the Evergreen Presbyterian Church. MRS. BLANCH BARNETT graduated from high school i Arlington, Tennessee, where she was born. After attendin Memphis State Mrs. Barnett taught in Tipton County, an at Lucy, and Frayser Central. She is a very active mama. of Schoolfield Methodist Church.

HOMEMAKING MISS HAL JOHNSON DOUGLAS graduated from Central High School, and then obtained a Vocational Home Economics degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennessee. Miss Douglas came to F.H.S. from Bartlett in l953. This year, during the Christmas holidays, she was in a terrible automobile wreck iust outside the city limits of Dallas, Texas, and has had to spend most of the year in and out of the hospital. Fortunately, Miss Douglas is making a remarkable recovery. Miss Douglas is a member of many profes- sional organizations and spends her spare time working with young people at school and at the Madison Heights Methodist Church. l l MRS. LESSIE CAROTHERS, who has been teaching at F.H,S. for three years, was born in Taylor, Mississippi, where she graduated from high school. She holds a B.S. and an M.A. degree from Ol' Miss. Mrs. Carothers is active in the Eastern Star, the Baptist Church and many professional organizations. Her favorite pastime is sewing. 2 it DO YOU RATE? M? .S fm MRS SALLY HERRINGTON was born in Hattiesburg Mississippi where she graduated from high school She received her BS and MA degree from Mississippi Southern in Home Economics Education. She taught in southern Mississippi before coming to F.H.S. two years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Herrington attend the Episcopal Church. Reading, sewing and trying new recipes are t ,vt ogg af her hobbies. MRS. KATHLEEN R. GRAVES came to F.H.S. seven years ago after teaching in Henderson County and at Millington. She received her B.S. degree from Memphis State and later re- ceived her B.S. in Vocational Home Economics from the University of Tennessee. Mrs. Graves is an active member of the Springdale Civic Club, Bellevue Baptist Church and several professional associations, Flower-raising is her year- round hobby.
