' - We were excited for the first few weeks, but we finally settled down to the-fact that we were high school students. We elected Frank Vestal as our class president. During that year we suffered a terrible loss-- the burning of our gymnasium which handicapped our ball teams. A year later we came back as sophomores, with Mrs. Morgan as our home-room teacher. We elected our class officers. This time we elected Hilda Brady as our president. 'V We entered our jtmior year with Mrs. Irene B. Frazier as our home-room teacher. We added many memories that year. We had our Christmas Party in the high school library. When we came back from the Christmas holidays we started making plans for the Jimior-Senior Banquet and Graduation. In the spring we ordered our class rings. In April we sponsored the banquet, the theme of which was April ShoWers. We presented the Magnolia Arch to the departing seniors and sang the fare- well song on graduation night, May 27, 1958. We started our senior year with a new senior sponsor, Miss Edith Ausley, whom we liked verymuch. A The annual staff and members of the class devoted much time and hard work to the publication of the annual, ge Cardinal. We also re- ceived our class rings at the first of the year. When the last semester rolled around we found our school days much too short for the preparations required for our commencement. The time which had seemed endless twelve years ago, had passed much too quickly. Realizing that now we actually faced the future, we were faced with dread and fear, but on graduation night, as we Walked down the aisle, We the class of '59, turned our thoughts to what we would do in the future.
