Time waits for no man: it moves on its wav with a steady gait and nothing can stop it. A The Senior Class of R.H.S. has seen many change-s wrought by time in its six y'ears here at Roosevelt. Only yesterday, or so it seems, we were frightened little seventh graders, awed by the size of the building that was to be our new home of learning. Today we lead the student body of this building, and are look- ing forward to taking our place in the complicated world of tomorrow yy hat will we remember best ol our happy high school years as we occasionally look backward through the mists of time' In our unror High years we gained a sense of truly belonging both to the class and to the school XVe yorned many different types of clubs and activr tres and in general prepared ourselves for the school years ahead One of the most enjoyable experiences of this period was a trip to the state capitol Albany We wandered lllee so many lost lambs but at the end of a long day, the chaperones rounded more than a hundred happy boys and girls into the fold for the ride home We arrived tired but jubilant impressed with all that we had seen When we became Freshmen we felt that we truly were a part of the high school Our class was fortu nate enough to gain a fine class advisor, Miss Fred rrlesen who has cheerfully shared all the joys trials and exasperatrng tribulations of our class This was the year we began to hold our own dances and we presented a Freshman Class play YVe found that there wasnt much difference between becoming en meshed in crepe paper and becoming tangled in the lines of a play He also participated in the Nlagazrne Drive the first major actryitv to gatn money for our Orbit The drive was yerv successful and we were well on otrr wav to emerging rs seasoned high school students -Xs Sophomores we began to realize that the school as well as our own mentrl tttitudes was grow ok ind cr inny helel r elass ye s to sehool lose the sort ol horney rtrnosphere in w r everyone knew everyone else btt we were ple rsed be eruse now we woulel le un to mingle with a grea et number of people ind thus preprre for the college ind business careers the rel Tlns ye rr the elrss uneler took a task larger than any we hid previously han dleel Sophomore X arretv Night went into pr oductron Two plays and a dance were presented Although this was much more work than rny previous protect its success brought 'r rew rrd ler our work v v 7 vt v i 1 I J . In these races R.H.S. placed sec- ond, as our crews took second place in each ol' the Iour races: Varsity, junior Varsity, l.ig'ht- weight, and Gig. Our crew journeyed to Philadelphia in 1955 to compete in the National Schoolboy Rowing competition where they failed to qualify due to a had start. However. they won the Consolation TZICC.
