The Franklin Chapter of the National Thespi- an Society is one of the thousands in the country established for the advancement of dramatic arts in the secondary schools. However, ours is proba- bly one of the most productive. Under the pa- tient guidance of Mr. Plischkc, this year it pres- ented several one-act plays, a children’s play, sponsored various field trips and an induction tea. A high honor at Franklin is to be elected to the Nation- al Honor Society, sponsored by Mrs. Hanks. Members arc carefully selected on the basis of character, service, leader- ship and scholarship. Several activities have highlighted the 1966 67 school year; a back-to-school dance, a spaghet- ti dinner in February to earn money, and an impressive in- duction ceremony. Also our chapter hosted to the three- county Regional Conference in the spring. This quite suc- cessful year closed with an enjoyable banquet for all mem- bers. Our Student Council, comprised of one representative from each home- room, and under the sponsorship of Mr. Lozier, is the main link between the faculty and the students. The Stu- dent Council was quite active this year, with the raising of the gates in the morning and looking into a better dis- ciplinary policy for the school. They also sponsored the annual Sadie Hawkins Dance; the proceeds of which went to the American Field Service Scholarship Fund.
