KJX q--r The first Sophomore Class activity of the year was held on November 5, l957. The Sophomores sponsored a Bakery Sale in the school cafeteria. This was the first bake sale ever held in the year by any class. Only the members of the high school were included in the sales, Shirley Roufs and Lynne Ryker were in charge of organizing the bake sale and it was held during all three lunch periods, lt was a success and a fine start for the Sophomore Class. On December ll, l957, the Sophomore Class took control of the game concessions at the Franklin Pierce-Clover Park game. lim Barbre, Sophomore Sergeant-at-Arms, was in charge of organizing the food and the help for the concessions He ap pointed Phyllis Andersen Iudy Anderson and Sharon Madsen to operate the concessions during the HALF This was also a success and the Sophomore Class enioyed taking over for the first time The third activity of the year Was held on February Zl l958 when the Sophomore Class sponsored the after game dance following the Franklin Pierce Puyallup game Iudy Shoe Sophomore Class Secretary was in charge of the Decoration Committee and Lessie Otto and Phyllis Andersen were in charge of the Food Committee The first after game dance sponsored by the Class of 60 was thoroughly enioyed by all The final activity of the year was the Sophomore Hop which was held on March Sl l958 in the school cafeteria and was a successful semi formal dance open to all student of Franklin Pierce and their guests MRS F xsi iii LARNON 'Q' 'N' 'Q-'17 xi H, ig A1 ffl? 9 G . , U 1 N 4 ' xl -ll ' N . . However, activities here reach out in many other directions for the benefit of students. Vision is checked each yearg hearing tests are given at least two times while in high school. Dental health education is a continuous part of the program. This year we wrestled with such schools as Bethel, Belle- vue and File turning out after school from December through the end ot February The boys who part1c1pated are Roger Ellison Walter Rattenbury Pete Musser Dennis Burgeson Rich Hall lun Kent Iohn Crone Ed Brantors Larry Gehrrnann Bob Leis and Spencer Harnp on kyle 61116 Though hurt considerably by the loss of graduatmg seniors the rifle team still made a creditable showing 1n the league and the nation The varsity team placed School Rifle League wh1ch is the largest scholastic rifle league in the Umted States The tyro hrst year shooters won the city and league champ1onsh1p by bestmg all competition over the season by a scant 2 points Nat1on w1de we finished 1n 10th place in the Class B competxtion which 1S all prone shooting We have an outstanding group of new shooters and the outlook for the next two or three years looks very promising X I it l T' l e i c I fy , . g .
