Class Prophecy Pltslurg Ohio 197 6 Dear Ruthie! Hello! I simply had to write to you to tell you of the wonderful time I m having vlsltmg Pltsburg I hardly recognized the place it has changed so much Iwas told that its rapid growth in the past twenty years are due to the fact that one of our classmates Larry Besecker found that it was a wonderful place to make pretzels Larry is a millionaire now and has recently given money for an addltion to the Cityl-Iospital Lors McBride is the Director of the School of Nursing there I heard that she gave up a career of fame and fortune wrth a now world famous magician to nurse the sick of her home communrty Pat Martindale is the head doctor there now and also has a family of her own Isn t lt amazing what some of our friends have done since graduation? Iam staying at Bright s Hotel Steve Bright that is and his slogan ls Stay A,t Bright s For A Sleepless Night No one knows how he does it but he gets the best entertainment in the country Last week he had the band previously led by Ray Anthony but now better than ever since Phil Elkenherry took it over Krtty Weherley Ianet North Janet Oswalt and Bonnie Campbell compose the vocal group traveling with the band One afternoon I picked up the latest issue of the Prtsbug Daily Ioumal and as I scanned the front page I notlced an article which told of a world famous botanrst Dennis Mundhenk who is to be the speaker the State Garden Clubs Conventron that 1S to be held rn tovsm next month He said that he is happy to speakmg in hrs home town Iwas then interrupted by the phone I hurrredly combed my hair as I passed the mirror You must be so careful since phoneovlsion has come into use I was delighted to see and hear our old friend Helen Hoover fshe is married now of course, who mvrted me to vrsit her She has a lovely home in Ionesboro which was known as Painter Creek before Gary Iones completed his new houslng project there Helen told me that five of our classmates are teachrng school Noreta Bridenbaugh Delk is the Home Economics teacher and Bob Delk her husband the Agrrculture teacher at Franklin Monroe Catherine Schaurer who is teaching Home Economics at Arcanum Hrgh School ls one of the best they have ever had Iwas very much surprised to learn that Paul Horner ls teaching Drivers Education And it sounds as lf Ellen Dietrich is up to her old tricks She went back to F M and played the part of the mards ln the cla ss plays to work her way through college and now she is the dramatics teacher at F M and she encourages talking rn study hall because it is good for the vocal cords later I returned to the paper and on the sports page I read that the Globetrotters are appearing in town Steve told me that I1l'Tl Conner ls playing with them Iack Holsopple has signed a contract with NBC TV to announce the World Series again next year He rs so popular that if they want hlm they must get hrm early I also saw that Harold Gard is planning to enter the Indianapolis 500 with hrs own car thrs year I became hungry and Steve suggested that I go to Chong Wong s Chinese Restaurant I followed his he especlally enjoys the cooking He said if I stayed a little while I might see Larry Peitshans He 1S pres1dent of Feitshans Inc but Gene has never found out what sort of f1rm it ls although Larry has eaten there every day for three years Another day when Iwent shopping I entered a lovely shop ln the heart of the city and discovered that Marlene Unger owns it She sells wedding gowns and ls the foremost authority on weddmg etiquettee She lsn t married herself but she says she ls enjoying herself very much Farther down the street as I walked past a wrndow Ithought I saw a familiar face I went back and found that I was mistaken there were two famrlrar faces those of Lynda Fourman and Keith Allread They are running a barber shop Lynda imme dlately wmted to give me a flat top but Iwas afraid my head mrght get cold Back at the hotel I turned on the TV and a face smiled at me It was Patty Deeter telling how to make better pies Slnce she won a cooking contest she has her own program for housewives At the end of Patty s program The Big Payoff came on and guess who is wearing the mink coats since Bess Myrson tired Shirley Hodson! Here is some good news for the farmers Don Bolinger s name ls going to be on the ballot for governor ,Of Ohro this year Since he represents the farming class of people Darke County wxll surely support hlm Ive another bit of news Ln which you might be interested Erla Kress married a Texas oilmllllonatre and they rarse little oll drops Delbert Furlong works at the TV station predicting the weather In thlrteen years he has never hit it right yet but he s not discouraged I m bound to get lt right sometime he claims There rs rumcr about the hotel that Steve wears a toupee Oh here he rs now I must ask hlm lf he knows of any more of our classmates He ju st told me that Barbara Wick runs a kindergarten for children of the people who work ln the pretzel factory Steve asked about Ruthie Unger and I was glad to tell him that you are married have four children Ralph I Rhonda Randy and Robin and llve in Hollywood Florida just down the street from me the former Sandra Fetters I must be hurrying along now I hope everyone in your family ls well I thankyou so much for looking after my five boys while I m on this vacation Your friend Sandra I , .
