This year we were able to choose either French, Latin, or Spanish. Each student is provided an opportunity to express his creativity in his own way. Art covers the skills of ceramics, clay molds, paper art, various types of paints and drawing. Mr. Converse, Art. Miss Begun (English, math, science, social studies, and art) Miss Begun and Mr. Lapsley find it interesting how each student expresses what he sees in his own way. Science Science is the study of the world and the universe. The study of science requires the activity of the mind in addition to the necessary memorizing of facts. Our math teachers ' concern is to facilitate understanding, insight, and the recognition of the many existing inter- relationships for all students, and also to provide a foundation for more advanced work in mathematics for many students. Physical Education classes are instructed T in the basics of soccer, volleyball, basketball, football, dancing, gymnastics ) and wrestling. Head Mrs. Potter 13 Home Economics Home Economics students learn techniques for better living. Home Economics provides each student an opportunity to learn the skill of cooking and sewing. Mrs. Katter, Sponsor. 14 Industrial Arts This year, girls were allowed to participate in Industrial Arts classes. Indsutrial Arts has helped the students gain a well rounded education in which they learn techniques for better living. The students are taught the basic of metal and wood working and drafting. They are taught how to use the machinery in the shop. Mr. Clair, Dept. Head Mr. Ketterman 15 Typing and General Business General Business and Typing are enjoyed by all. General Business gives the student insight into the business world. Typing gives the student a useful skill he can use the rest of his life. Mrs. Deputy, Librarian Mrs. Deputy encourages the students to use the li- brary as much as possible. She feels that the library belongs to the students. 17 Eight and Ninth Grade Chorus a Seventh Grade Chorus Instrumental Music 18 Music Students learned to appreciate many types of music. A study of American folk songs pertained not only to music but the history of our country. The life styles of different composers were studied to gain a better un- derstanding of the different musical styles. The students took great pride perfecting their voices before performing. The variation of the string section was important for the lovely music heard from this year ' s orchestra. Mrs. Echinger (Dept. Mrs. Johnson, sponsor. The Student Advisory Council is the student governing body at Franklin. The council proposes ideas for bettering the school and sponsor many activities. The students also assist in various school events. Archery Club. Mr. Fox, sponsor. This club ' s purpose is to learn fundamentals of Archery and to make arrows and archery equipment. Geometric Design. Mrs. Wodock sponsor. Geometric Design club gives the student an opportunity to learn that Geometry can be fun. 46 Audio-Visual Club. Mr. Gorman, sponsor. The members learn how to use the audio-visual equipment. Bowling Club. Mr. Simpson, Sponsor. This club gives the student an opportunity to learn a worthwhile sport. Stamp Club. Mr. Converse, sponsor. The purpose of this club is to learn the fundamentals of stamp collect- ing as well as having swap sessions. 47 Public Speaking. Mrs. Shoemaker, sponsor. This club ' s purpose is to improve student ' s ability to speak in front of a group or to a group over a public address system. Advanced Clothing. Mrs. Heaston, sponsor. The purpose of this club is to teach sewing to 9th grade stu- dents who cannot take it during the regular school day. Insect Collectors with an ' A ' grade. Mr. Overmyer, sponsor. This group ' s purpose is to reward academic achievement. 48 Guitar Workshop. Mr. Ketterman, sponsor. The purpose of this club is to share knowledge of guitar skills. Gym Assistants. Franklin ' s volleyball team was really great this year. 56 Cross Country Cross Country runs, and runs, and runs. 57 B3 S Football-1974-75 58 Franklin ' s football team had a good year. Under coach Pet- roff ' s guidance, the Varsity football team proved they could do the job. 59 Last year, we came to Franklin as visitors. This year, Franklin is our home. 60 The 50 ' s 61 The Varsity Cheerleaders did a good job in promoting school spirit at Franklin this year. The Re- serve cheerleaders also did an excellent job. We close this book with a poem written by Joyce Steigmeyer dedicated to Mr. Moore. Franklin School is really great. We owe it to one man. If he wasn ' t somewhere around, The school would be out of hand. The man I ' m talking about, you all know. And you know him by his name. He ' s trying to run a better school, So we can all grow up with fame. If every one else would walk out the door, I ' m sure the one to stay would be Our Principal, Mr. Moore.
