TO A GREAT MAN We, here at Franklin High School, are proud to dedicate this 44th edition of Tolo Annual to our beloved principal, Mr. Walter J. Reseburg. By giving himself untiringly in the capacities of teacher, coach, counselor, vice-principal, principal, and friend for more than 45 years, he has guided us and many other students in our pursuit of high ideals. His never-ending drive for good sportsmanship, high scholastic standards, and enthusiasm for worthwhile things have been an inspiration to many thousands of students who have passed through the halls of Franklin. As Mr. Reseburg graduates with the Class of 1958, he leaves behind him a Bellamy Award school which was so honored because of his hard work and his fine examples of democracy and fair play. Just as in the heart of Mr. Reseburg there can never be another school, so will Franklin never be able to replace him. We shall always remember his great love for athletics of all kinds. Our school spirit has been only a mirrored image of Mr. Reseburg's spirit. The school is experiencing a great loss and is grateful for his guidance. Ben Franklin would be proud of our Mr. Reseburg. WALTE . RESEBURG ri cipal K I rr CDUR PRINCIPAL SPEAKS Graduation time again! This year I made it. After forty- six short years I can finally consider myself a Franklin graduate. I first entered our beautiful building in the year 1912. Everyone has always been so kind and considerate so I just stayed on and on. I can truthfully say that Franklin has always been a friendly school. Over the years we have built certain definite opinions into our philosophy. We have established an en- vironment in which all may experience maximum democratic living. We have every freedom, and the large majority of our people feel personally responsible not to abuse these privi- leges. We place limitations on no one and believe wherever desire and industry prevail, happy and effective lives will follow. We subscribe to the principle of self-evaluation and self-discipline and honest desire to improve in scholarship and human relations. The large majority of our teachers are dedicated to the youth of our country. The objective uppermost in their thinking is to build honest, hard-working, cooperative and loyal American citizens. Meeting so many wonderful parents, teachers, graduates and pupils has been a rare privilege and a happy experience. Now that I am leaving this warm place for the outer space of retirement from teaching I wish to tell you that I shall always remember Franklin with love and sincere affection. May you live long and prosper. W. J. RESEBURG
