Over the years we have tried by means of conferences, in the class- room, and through activities to make certain this is so. In preparation for democratic living, we recog- nize that the strength of the individual makes our country strong, that there is no growth save from within, that the best discipline is self-discipline, that loyalty, honesty, cooperation, industry, and other worthwhile character traits are the result of train- ing, iust as powerful muscles are the result of exer- cise, and finally, spirit cannot be developed except through participation. In the light of this philosophy we are especially pleased with the excellent work done in Franklin during the past year. The work of our student Ad- visory Council and their communication of proce- dures to the roll rooms through well-kept minutes has been outstanding. Faculty sponsors and student leaders should take a bow. We appreciate the abil- ity of teachers in the field of guidance and their work in the growth of classroom methods and tech- niques.
