RESEBURG Princi I Ve!- ff-Q I ,f K Main Office I IERTHA RICE Head Secretary HELEN IILES OLIN Attendance Sacrutury Our Principal Speaks: We believe, at Franklin, that the public school is the laboratory of democracy. Over the years we have tried by means of conferences, in the class- room, and through activities to make certain this is so. In preparation for democratic living, we recog- nize that the strength of the individual makes our country strong, that there is no growth save from within, that the best discipline is self-discipline, that loyalty, honesty, cooperation, industry, and other worthwhile character traits are the result of train- ing, iust as powerful muscles are the result of exer- cise, and finally, spirit cannot be developed except through participation. In the light of this philosophy we are especially pleased with the excellent work done in Franklin during the past year. The work of our student Ad- visory Council and their communication of proce- dures to the roll rooms through well-kept minutes has been outstanding. Faculty sponsors and student leaders should take a bow. We appreciate the abil- ity of teachers in the field of guidance and their work in the growth of classroom methods and tech- niques. We have much to be thankful for at Franklin. WALTER J. RESEBURG MARSDEN COLE librarian VE LMA IOSWORTH Main Office Asst. Secretary DAISY IRODEIICK library Secretary CONSTINCE MDRIISON Guidance Secretary 6 Our Vice-Principal Speaks: Franklin High School is a wonderful place to gain an education. Do you know why? Three important factors account for the great traditions of our school: First is a student body that enioys democratic freedom while building a sound educational foun- dation. The second is a faculty that is intelligent and co- operative-a group that takes great pride and leasure in hel in to develo tomorrow's leaders. P P 9 P The final factor is a man who has devoted forty- five years of his life to this school -Walter J. Rese- burg. The spirit of Franklin that all of us cherish is a living tribute to this inspiring and beloved man. I feel honored and privileged to have been ap- pointed vice-principal at a school so famous for the spirit of its student body. l would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Reseburg and the entire faculty for the friendly assistance they have given me. We have come a long way and we have worked hard to get there. As freshmen, we eagerly took hold of the new and exciting duties confronting us. This zest matured with time and through it we gained much . . . both for the school and within ourselves. While sophomores and iuniors, we never let our spirits waver. It took an even stronger hold when our school received the Bellamy Flag Award. We then recognized a bit more fully what it took to mold and maintain a truly democratic school. This honor, which has been bestowed upon Franklin, showed clearly iust what we must strive for. We have worked together and played together . . . not as individuals but as a team. We have been recognized as outstanding in scholastic achievements, sports, and student activities. In an effort to build an even stronger democratic system within our school, we have put much effort into making our revised student government become the success it is. With the help of our outstanding school officials, faculty, and class adviser, we feel that we have formed a solid framework which we can build on after leaving the beloved halls of Franklin. During these four busy years, we have been given every opportunity to mature into young adults. Thanks to the wonderful atmosphere here at Franklin we have developed important habits, learning when to be serious and when to have fun. We have never lost the drive we began with but have used it to good advantage. Winning the Spirit Jug each year it has been offered stands as a reminder and fine example of the deeds our class has accomplished. We thank you, Franklin High School, for being so very good to us. We owe you such a great deal and will do our best as alumni to bring nothing but praise to this alma mater of which we are so very proud. lt is a wonderful feeling to know that, when we leave, we will not escape your memories. As sure as we live and breathe as young Americans, we will never forget you.
