Our Principal W, we L fl E 1535623 .raawm if -it if 2 wig. jg. if :swag Q W 'AIA' 2- CI. .f ,Z C3 h. 4 ' To work and to play together in schools is a great American privilege. We shoul aim to make our Franklin High School an environment in which honesty, loyalty, cooperative effort, consideration for ' 'QU others, and a spirit of fairness may be achieved by the individual. In short, we should try to make it a f A place where good sportsmanship is practiced. Not all girls and boys who master the techniques of games are good sportsmeng at least not until they develop conduct becoming to ladies and gentlemen. I wish to congratulate our 1952 football squad and our coaches, not because they won the city championship, but because the w ' y ere ever mindful of the tenets of good sportsmanship. WALTER J. RESEBURG

Among these things are: building vigorous health, developing well coordinated recreational skills, acquiring capacities to work as a team member and to think and act under pressure, the experience of good sportsmanship from the player's point of view, the development of a sense of personal achievement and importance, and loyalty to a cause. The second kind of values includes those things which help the school as a whole. Here we find good citizenship, loyalty, good public relations, the fun of student body activities in support of the team, and the experience of good sportsmanship on the part of observers at games. The success of our athletic program is not measured by championships won, but by the extent to which it builds our young men and unites our whole school in all school activities. HARRY GARRISON
