,, 'A' ' 1 2 sclENcEs AND ARTS At Licoln High School SHIRLEY BOSELLY, new head of our Mathematics Department, was journalism adviser and baseball coach. Besides athletics his chief interest is his little boy. He is a deputy sheriff and teaches at night school. A HARRIET J. DOHENY'S hobbies are golf and traveling. She has made many trips, including one to Australia. A FRANKLIN KARRER is mainly interested in student welfare. Although he has many hobbies such as woodworking, stamps, and photography, horticulture is the one in which he is most interested. A HELEN KUEBLER plays golf frequently. She is interested in stagecraft and has been stage manager of the Repertory Theater. A AGNES REMLEY collects dishes, old American goblets of the plume pattern, and coins. GRANT A. LAIZURE makes practical use of his chemistry by manufacturing cosmetics. A former professional tennis player, he is interested in sports. Chess is a favorite pastime. He likes traveling, movies, and fried chicken. A HARRY T. BENSON is interested in all athletics, including golf and fishing, but base- ball is his favorite. His hobby is growing plants and puttering around his garden. A Home duties take up much of L. MAY CHAMBERS' time. As alumni adviser she is busy looking up Franklin graduates who are in service, She enjoys amateur meteorology. A ANNA MAY DAUGHERTY has made many trips. She likes to drive and to read. First Aid is one of her interests. She usually spends her summer on the coast. A PHILLIP EVATT'S interests center about his small son and baby daughter. He has done war work as a machinist. He likes to experiment and is interested in model airplanes and skating. CHARLOTTE BISAZZA'S favorite hobby is traveling in foreign countries. She has a large collection of art treasures from home and abroad. Her other interests include swimming and mountain climbing. A ROB- ERTA OWEN, new to Franklin this year, is kept busy managing a home and two high school daughters. A lover of salt water, she longs to own a home in the San juan Islands. A LAWRENCE H. BLACKNELL likes to swim and play tennis. He enjoys reading and seeing good plays. He is organist and choirmaster at Mt. Baker church and works at the quartermaster's depot. A VICTOR H. MCCLELLAND is an amateur lapidary and philatelist and an amateur radio operator. He is working for the government.

VOCATIONAL an 1 STELLA MCGRATH, Head of the Commercial Department, is too busy keeping house for any par-. ticular hobby, but she likes to walk, to travel, to read popular fiction, and to listen to symphonies and comedy programs on the radio. A LILLIAN C, FOWLER'S favorite pastime is trying out new recipes. She knits for the Red Cross. Automobile trips, the theater, and reading are among her interests. A LOLA HALL'S main interest is music. She likes to sing. She also enjoys collecting recipes, Her pet peeve is the chewing of gum during her typing classes. A MARGUERITE SORENSON. known to her friends as Maggie, likes to garden but hates weeds. Horseback riding and sawing wood are among her activities. She likes to travel and spent several months abroad. She likes moron jokes. A His friends all call DAVID A. STAEGER Doc, Like Izaak Walton, he is an ardent Fisherman. All outdoor sports attract him, including hunting and hiking. A MAE TOOMEY, new this year to Franklin, like Miss Percival of the English Department, came to us from Broadway. She is interested in outdoor sports, She likes to drive and has been across this country many times. A LELA WALTER'S favorite hobby is woodcarving, with gardening a close second. She is especially interested in books dealing with current problems andworld affairs. In her next life she would like to play the violin or cello. GERTRUDE L. RINEHART is an air-raid warden and the proud owner of a victory garden. She spends her spare time walking. traveling, and reading: she enjoys books of non-fiction, especially biography. A GENE- VIEVE WARNER'S special joy is her garden at her apartment. She likes to read historical novels and travel books. Until gas rationing her favorite winter sport was skiing. A LENA WlLSON'S chief interests are furnishing her new home and Fixing up her victory garden. She is especially interested in textiles and weaving: during her travels she has collected many samples of handweaving, blankets, and baskets. BARRIE S. RICE'S family, two boys and a baby daughter, take much of his time, His hobbies are his shop at home and gardening. He likes most sports, especially fishing. At the present time he devotes all his spare time to war work. A The bookroom. stage construction, and school air-raid precautions keep GEORGE O. SCOTT busy, but he finds time for his hobbies. stamps and golf-when it doesn't rain. His pet peeve is people who eat popcorn during a good movie. A ANTON SULAK has owned several airplanes and operated a flying school. His hobby is inventing and he has several U. S. patents. He also enjoys growing fruit trees and gardening. ll

SOCIAL SCIENCES AND ATHLETICS ? NOAH C. DAVENPORT'S pet hobby is traveling around this country. Northern Washington is his frequent hideout, for he heeds the call of the forest. His nut farm is his chief outside interest, but he loves his history classes best of all. A ROSE GLASS has had a varied career, including dramatic coach at A. E. F. camps in France during the last war. Her interests include people, travel, drama, music, and dancing, and she loves the out-of-doors. Pet peeve: play boys and girls. A RALPH C. JOHNSON, amateur gardener, is proud of his shrubs, Flowers, and large lawn. He likes to make short trips to the mountains and seashores. A former journalist, he has a keen interest in all world affairs. A EMMA KASSEBAUM likes the great out-of- doors, especially beautiful mountain scenery. She enjoys cooking, good music, good books, and the theatre. A KATHERINE J. LENTZ is interested in Social Welfare and plans to do that work when she retires from teaching. Other interests are gardening, housekeeping, crocheting and other handwork, and keeping up with world affairs. A MURIEL E. MORRIS likes hiking and traveling. She collects pictures on her travels. A singer, she is interested in music. She likes to knit and baseball is her favorite sport. A His two boys, his home, and his gardening take most of BYRON A. SAMUELSON'S time, but he likes to listen to good music at concerts and on the radio: he is a violinist himself. He likes to play ping-pong and tennis. A CONRAD A. SCHIRMER'S hobby is flower gardening: he specializes in dahlias, He has traveled widely, including two trips to Europe. Ambition: to get boys to join the Navy. Favorite food: pie. Pet peeve: gum chewing. A When the war ends ISABEL STRAIN wants to visit the Philippines where she formerly taught. She collects paper weights. She is interested in gardening and has a garden in her back yard. I'm just an ordinary individual, says MILDRED B. MURRAY. A lover of poetry, she collects cabin plans and hopes to build sometime on Lake Pend O'Reille where she can hunt, swim, and hike. A Like Miss Murray, ANNA BELLE SHAW is a First Aid instructor. She also likes outdoor sports and has a camp on Lake Washington. She likes to cook and sewg she makes many of her own clothes. A Coaching and refereeing occupy most of LEONARD T. SAALWAECHTER'S time. He has coached football, basketball, baseball, and track in high school and college. He likes good movies and his ambition is to sleep for a week. A WIEBER WYNSTRA is an outdoor man who likes to Fish, hunt, and climb mountains. He collects stamps and is interested in Northwest history.
