Counselors rge the aking of Wise Plans To help you make wise plans and de- cisions as a student is the purpose of the Counseling D e p a r t m e n t. Counselors work with the individual students throughout their high school career. Mr. Laughlin took the post of College Co-ordinator for half a day and remains as sophomore hoys counselor for the other half. Mr. Terada, art teacher, counsels sophomore hoys part-time. Mrs. Corey Belleque Adult Helpers Keep Things Moving Mrs. Corey Belleque, Franklin's matron, was honored by the Junior class on Honor Corey Dayf' Junior Craig Flach presented her with an orchid corsage as thanks for her devoted work. Mrs. Helen Cottsch supervised all cafe- teria operations. Adult workers pre- pared large, inexpensive lunches for the students. Students assist by serving and making change. Mr. Ed Drais, head custodian, super- vised the cleaning and upkeep of the building. Students helped with custo- dial duties. Maintenance is a never-end- ing chore. Academics 23

Early Planning Helps Students Mr. Richard Laughlin, Franklin,s col- lege co-ordinator, is very concerned by students who are late in planning for their future. But, he feels that it is the student,s individual responsibility to ask for the necessary information. Mr. Laughlin works with the counselors and Mrs. Bonnae Lindley in the Vocational Information Center in sending this in- formation to the students. Underclass- men should be encouraged to use all sources of information offered to avoid a last minute and perhaps a hasty de- cision. Counselor 200 Students Receive ,Io bs As vocational counselor, Mr. Robert Coles finds part-time jobs for Franklin High School students along with work- ing on the Neighborhood Youth Corps and Cosmetology programs. Mr. Coles aided in providing students with a beneficial and meaningful work experience program. A grade of Pass or Fail is given for each term of work experience. This year he assisted 50 to 75 students in finding employment, and involved 150 students in the work ex- perience program. Academics 25
