New Vice-Principal Hopes For Increased Student Involvement This year, Franklin welcomed a new administrative vice-principal, Mr. David Wienecke. Like the rest of the administration he, too, has opinions of the activities that are a part of Franklin. lt is hoped that an increased student involve- ment in student council and other activities will occur during the coming years. He sees promise in the independent study schedule because it gives students a chance to socialize with their friends. According to Mr. Wienecke, most of the students have accepted the responsibilities that must go with the new privileges. 22 Academics Mr. Wienecke and Mr. Wax sign Ernie lnclan's petition for A.F.M. president. Mrs. Miller chats with Nlr. Wienecke at one of her last faculty-administration togethersf'

However, she feels that many of the problems arose from misunderstanding. She points out that the number of students leaving the building and wandering the halls was reduced when the purpose of independent study was explained and understood. Mrs. Miller also feels that this is a real step in helping students learn to accept responsibility. bm if . l f' Qit 'i f 2 I . f Mrs, Verna Miller Administration 21
