Practical skills for a business career or educational aids for schoolwork can be obtainedthrough the courses inthe bus- iness department. Students who are interested in receiving training for sec- retarial and office jobs, enroll in the advanced courses of shorthand and typ- ing aswell as the office practice cours- es which teach them the operation of several office machines. Students hop- ing to improve the quality of their school work take the courses in begin- ning typing and possibly briefhand. As apart of the business education de- partment, girls are given the chance to work in the school offices during their studyhalls. Inthis way, they learn the courtesy and responsibility required of them in actual employment. The school also maintains a cooperative program with Girls' Poly, in which Franklin girls may receive more tech- nical training in fields such as dental hygiene and medical filing. Today we are surrounded by art in many new shapes and forms.
