The foreign language department at Franklin realizes this and centers its study around conversation, literature, and the culture of foreign nations. Four languages are offered for a full four-year sequence--French, Spanish, German, and Russian. Latin is also offeredfor twoyears. Besides the ex- cellent caliber of teachers at Frank- lin, the enterprising student has such resources as tape recordings and re- cords of the language, modern texts, and a substantial background library for his use. If faraway places excite you, or if you are thinking about en- gineering, science, teaching, inter- preting, or any other of a number of diverse vocations and interests, the field of foreign language is essential to your endeavor and opens up an un- limited number of opportunities and new interests.
