JUNE '31 THE ALMANAC History of Franklin High School 'Way back in the year of Our Lord nineteen hundred and fourteen, the upper deck of the good ship Creston was made into Franklin High School, with our own Mr. Ball as captain. There were about one hundred and Hfty in the crew then, but the number increased so rapidly that in the fall of nineteen hundred and fourteen the high school was moved to the good ship South Mt. Tabor. Captain Ball was still captain of the Creston and used her as his flagship, but also took command of his new ship, South Mt. Taborf' They cruised about for a term, when the South Mt. Tabor was set on fire by the enemy and went up in flames. The crew was rescued and transferred to a newly-captured ship, the Glencoe,l' where they remained until nineteen hundred and sixteen, when the newly-constructed ship, the Franklin High School, was ready for occupancy. That was many, many years ago and time has brought changes to the gallant little ship, and in nineteen hundred and twenty-five a new deck or Wing was added to the vessel. New faces have appeared among the officers, and each new term brings changes in the crew, but always the spirit of conquest, adventure and love of learning new things that was born long agdwhen Captain Ball first commanded the good ship Creston has remained. Whether it be victory or defeat the flag at the masthead is never lowered, always the crew comes up fighting, and the glory that is Franklin High School's is never allowed to be dragged in the dust.
