Our theme is based upon the fact that our class is the last to graduate from the Daves Thayer Building better known as Franklin High School. We have attempted to develop this theme through our front cover which depicts the Davis Thayer Build¬ ing, and the inside cover which shows the architectural sketch of the new high school. The modern art appearing on this page and the following pages signifies the old order changeth, yielding place to new. 3 C i4iety Sta y-Sdit ul s4%Cete TZafte T o h z Tftucciawte 7fa6e 7H c?H 4 LITERARY STAFF Editor: Pauline Turco Staff: Alice Wilkinson, Val Pasquantonio, Nancy Vendetti, Frances Harvey, Paula Murphy, Pat Tigue, Pauline Turco, Jeanne Garner, Peg¬ gy Holland, Andrea Goodwin, Beverly Riley, Marianne Bassignani, Carol Sanderson, Carolyn Schmidt. This year’s chapter of the National Senior Honor Society has elected to take an educational trip, it is hoped, to Washington. Its members sponsored various activities in order to fulfill their objective, and in so doing established a record of hard work. The juniors and seniors who make up this organization and their able advisor, Mr. Russell, are to be commended for their initiative. 76 flutUo ' i ' rtyotto ' i Society Advisor: Mr. Week President: Lee Beane Secretary: Anne Cody Vice President: Cheryl Dangelo Treasurer: Martha Allen The Junior Honor Society, which is composed of freshman and sophomore honor students, is a branch of the National Honor Society. This has been an enjoyable year for the group, for they attended the Ice Capades, a Jazz Concert, and a Celtics’ basketball game. They sponsored a candy sale and sold refreshments at the football games, in order to raise money for these activities. In addition, they assisted with the Heart Fund Drive. We feel certain that these students will continue to be worthy members of the student body at F.H.S. W W 77 Student ( ouuciC President: Gerald Tulis Secretary. Pamela Feeley Advisor: Mr. Quinlan Vice President: Michael MacMann Treasurer: Judith Varjian The Student Council has contributed much to both the school and the community this year. They sponsored a pep rally, conducted morning exercises over the inter¬ communication system, remembered the elderly of rest homes with gifts at Christmas, and donated their services at the tag day sponsored by the Heart Fund. The Student Council has always been ready and willing to help with worth-while projects. We are certain that they are grateful for the help given them by the students, the faculty, Mr. Beane, and especially their advisor, Mr. Quinlan. 78 Se«U t Section. The team this season had only four seniors, but Coaches Rex and Griffin did a fine job of developing last year’s sophomores. The Panthers this season won only three and lost six, but the effort was there. The seniors on the team: Co-captains Tulis and Simmarian, Bob D’Amelio and Dick Paquette deserve much credit for their help in leading the team. With fifteen returning lettermen next season, the Panthers are confident of a winning team. Next season’s team will be led by the newly elected co-captains, Bob Longobardi and Joe Nolan. This is the best basketball season Franklin High has seen since 1956, and our best year since joining the league. Aside from regular games, Franklin downed the undefeated Worcester Academy Jayvees in an exciting game with Wayne Simarrian popping in the winning basket. Wayne has been our top scorer this season with an average of 22 points per game; he has also been one of the top league scorers.
