The Senior Honor Society represents many such so¬ cieties in colleges, as well as high schools in foreign countries and in the United States. We sincerely hope that this organization will remain in Franklin High School throughout the many years to come in order to uphold and maintain the school s high standards. The junior and Senior members of this organization participated in scholarship funds, selling refreshments, and many successful inductions of newly qualifying mem¬ bers. As in the Senior Honor Society, selec¬ tion to this organization is considered the highest honor that Franklin High School can confer. The members of these Societies pledge themselves to uphold the stand¬ ards of this organization and to abide by its rules. We can feel justly proud to have the National Junior Honor Society represented in our school. Among numerous activities, the Junior Honor Society rose to new heights of ef¬ ficiency and achievement by the undertaking of providing programs for our football games, selling refreshments, and holding inductions for incoming members. Since we have had the Intercommunication system installed, the council members have been reciting the opening exercises every morning. During the past year, members of the council were sent, as delegates, to the Barn¬ stable High School in Hyannis and the King Philip High School in Wrentham for a convention where Student Councils from other towns came to discuss plans and proj¬ ects which could be done by the councils. The Student Council also held the annual Red Cross drive, and with the help of the student body, it turned out to be very successful. Social hours were held by the Student Council during the lunch hour on Fridays, at which time the entire Student body could dance on the gymnasium floor. They also held “dress up day” which was held on the last Friday of every month. The Student Council has truly done their share for our school, and can attribute much of their success to their advisor Miss Marion Holmes, to whom we are sure they are grateful. 74 GLEE CLUB The Chorus is one of the most enjoyable activities in the school. Philip Sewell has masterfully accompanied the Chorus for the past three years. 75 DRILL TEAM After many long hours of practice under adverse conditions, our fine troop of majorettes and drill team made one of the finest appearances ever witnessed at Dean Field on Thanksgiving Day. The pretty blue and white uniforms proved to be the envy of the visiting schools, while the intricate drills £jnd baton twirling were admired by all. Brenda, as captain of the majorettes, and Sylvia, as head of the drill team, proved to be really terrific, but we know that without the aid of Mr. Sullivan this could never be. As a result interest dwindled and the club disbanded. 77 BLUE AND WHITE High School news took priority this year in the pages of the Blue and White. Besides providing publicity for social functions, it informed the High School of political and administrative events. Athletics were amply covered by complete discretions. The Blue and White staff pledged themselves to continue the tradition of alert, unbiased reporting, and poetry. Its purpose is to encourage potential writers. Hie Blue and White also featured short stories. DRIVER EDUCATION Driver Ed. is one of the most beneficial of the school activities. This program enables most seniors to obtain their drivers licence under the direction of Mr. Gerardi and Mr. Russell who prove to be most patient. This activity tends to be the most enjoyable. 7B CAMERA CLUB CAMERA CLUB The Camera Club has been extremely active in teaching students how to take pictures, develop films, contact prints and enlarge negatives. For one thing the Blue and White plays one of the roughest schedules in Class C. circles. For another, an inexperienced line took a while to get functioning smoothly. Thirdly, injuries to key personnel weren’t helpful And with a break or two several games could have gone to Franklin. On Thanksgiving Day the Panthers really showed their desire by holding a bigger, faster, and more experienced, Westwood Club. This was a tribute to the boys as well as to the ceaseless efforts of Head Coach Bill Rex and assistant Coach Dean Peterson. At the Gridiron Club Football Banquet Ralph De Lucia received the outstanding back award with Co-captain Larry Benedetto runner-up.
