He must lie awake nights thinking of excuses (of which he seems to be well supplied) and questions to stump the teachers. Bobby’s witty nature and sense of humor make him fun to be with. He is usually found shooting around town in his car which has been compared to a bullet.” FAYE BARDOL 314 Main Street For she was cheerful all the day.” Like her sister, Flossie, Faye is full of fun and always good company. That’s just the adjective to describe Flossie”! She is always laughing and fooling around, and never seems to have a care in the world. He has a pleasing personality to go along with his great sense of wit. Dick” is one of the musicians of our class as he plays the accordion very well. Besides being a music lover, especially a jazz lover, he likes all sports and plays baseball for our school team. PAULA ANN CATALDO 37 Farrington Street Her voice was ever soft and gentle” To those people who don’t know her too well, Paula may seem quiet and shy, but the ones who really know her say she is friendly and full of fun. She is very agreeable and always ready to give anyone a helping hand or one of her cheery smiles. If you know of anyone who wants some help in shorthand, just tell them to call on Paula, because she is a whiz in shorthand. He will be remembered for his willingness to help his fellow classmates. Among his favorite pastimes are hunting and fishing. EDWARD CHISHOLM 15 Orchard Street Chis” Chissy” Silence sweeter is than Speech” Chis” is one of the quiet boys in our class. That is, until you get to know him. Then you will find that he is full of fun and he is also witty. One of Chis’s” interests is Scouts and you can usually find him discussing some Scouting activity with Bob. ANTONIA MARIA CIANCARELLI 47 Summer Street Toni” God is with those who persevere.” Toni is the brain” of our class. She excels in all her subjects and possesses great musical talent. Due to Toni’s studious nature and perseverance she deserves all the success that comes to her. BERNARD COLELLA Union Street Bernie” Quietness is a rare virtue ivhich few possess.” When you see a boy with black curly hair, in the corridors, it’s probably Bernie. His hair is one of his best points. He is a very quiet member of our class, and also a nice looking member. He likes to work with cars, and he can be seen doing just that at one of the local garages. Another of his interests is farming, which he enjoys very much. ■r ' -J ■ V. y k SALLY BURTON COMPTON 1342 West Central Street Sal” All the world’s a stage and all the men and women merely players.” Due to Sally’s great imagination you should be wary of a trick up her sleeve. One never knows what to expect from her as she says the first things that come to mind. Sally is noted for her wide vocabulary and nonconformity. He was a vital part of our Football team and his spirit and ability make him a great competitor in all school sports. These two items make up most of her spare time, as you can usually find her either listening to her records or reading a good book. But that’s not saying she isn’t happy and full of life, because for a good laugh, just find Jessie and you’ll have it. She always has an ample supply of clever remarks and delivers them at just the right time. No one can be serious when she’s around. He has a wonderful sense of humor and his abilities include pantomiming, accordion playing, acting. He has a great talent for ad-libbing. Disty” will never run out of his funny antics. When you get to know her, you find that she is a good friend, and we’re sure Myrna will agree with that, since she and Myrna are the closest of friends. Any time we ever needed any art work done, Ron was ahyays there to offer his services and his work was always great. His ideas were original and his accomplishment of them amazingly ingenious. He is a hard-working, conscientious senior, always striving for high grades. No one can doubt that Marston is headed for a bright and successful future. PATRICIA MARY FEELEY 21 Corbin Street Pat — Patty” Her liveliness disguises a brilliant mind Small and dark haired, Pat is an intellectual power in her class of ’58. Her interests vary, including science, reading, jazz, and cultural pursuits. Headed for a college course in Liberal Arts, she is sure to be a fine scholar. Wally,” who came to this country from Latvia, is a very studious boy, considered the ideal student by his teachers. Those who know him find that he is full of fun and has as good a time in life as the less studious people in class. Wally” also has a hobby which no other student in our class has—the old art of fencing. PAUL FICCO 151 Milliken Avenue Red” ’’Conference maketh a ready man” A stimulating conversationalist, Paul’s wit provides amusement whenever he is present. You never see her in the corridors without hearing her bubbling laugh or seeing her happy face. She rarely seems to be at a loss for words and her gift of gab” is envied by many. When a group of girls is playing basketball, Elaine is right in the middle of them, because basketball is the sport in which she stars. When the fishing season starts Billy” is one of the first to try his luck and during the hunting season, he can be found hunting for game in the early morning before school starts. In his spare time he is found working on his car or having some good-natured fun with his numerous friends. Judy s winning smile, appreciativeness, and understanding, are some of the reasons that she is so well liked at Franklin High. Her dislike for being teased may be the reason that she is so kind and understanding to others. Judy always enjoys a good time and contributes her share to it. Under the competent leadership of editor Ann Reynolds and her assistant, Melanie Thomas, it was a credit to our school. One could easily see that a lot of work went into the publishing of the paper. Organized, directed, drilled, and uniformed solely by its members, this club deserves much praise. They have provided much color to many of our football games and other events. With the help of Mr. Stevens, the camera club provides the school with many pictures, some of which have been used in this yearbook. These members are learning something which will be very valuable to them in their future. Drill Zeam Headed by the newly appointed director of music, Mr. Sullivan, the glee club is rapidly progressing. With its large membership and abundance of talent, F.H.S. is looking forward to many future concerts. The Jazz club has worked to introduce the artists and music of jazz to in¬ terested students. It is educational as well as entertaining. When the club was ' started, it was small, but since has added many new members. Advisor—Mrs. Xosgandes. ' • Mmm r o o More Staff Members Janice Heaton Ronald Morrison, Ray D ' Amelio football A high-spirited Panther eleven heralded for a great season by most people, got off to a great start by upsetting strong rival Milford 28-14. But Lady Luck” was against them. During the remainder of the season the team was hit hard by injuries and the flu. For a while it looked very disappoint¬ ing for the team and its coaches Mr. Griffin and Mr. Rose, but the boys never gave up, and finished off the season with a strong Thanksgiving win over Westwood 19-0. Led by co-captains Ronnie Taddeo, Johnny Post and Jack Stevens, the Panthers also got revenge against Northbridge, beating them 28-13. Besides the three co-captains, other seniors who will be graduating this year are: Ray D’Amelio, Walter Talamini, Ed Garner, Ken White, James Aimone, Ronnie Morrison, Dave Trenouth, Fran Molla, Peter Cataldo, and Gil Mason. The Gridiron Club, at the annual football banquet, gave awards to the out¬ standing lineman Ronnie Taddeo, runner-up Johnny Post, outstanding back Walt Talamini and runner-up Ronnie Morrison. This year’s team, the team of 1957, wishes the best of luck for a successful season to next year’s team. . £ 4 amjstgfftnaifiniia Hugragu mSSKKKKM Although this season was a rough one hie Franklin fans gave the boys of the ream much encouragement and the team showed good sportsmanship through¬ out the season, a tribute to their coach, Mr. Beane. Trie team started the season with five wins and three losses, but found the road difficult. None of the boys lost spirit even though times seemed very bad. Trie boys had plenrv of spirit when entering the Bay State Tourney, but after four of the starting five fouled our. all was lost. The Panthers ended up with a five and twelve record. Senior Varsity Basketball This year our Junior Varsitv had a good season, having won 9 a:a lost S. The ream looked very good for an inexperienced club. At rhe end of cue season rhev enrered the First Invitation Tournament, but were unfortunate ro lose it in its early stages. We think these boys show great promise which should rro- duce exceptional teams in the next two years.
