Solitude is broken to share the thoughts and feelings of another, to talk and plan and hope in terms of two. Solitude gives time for reflection, for personal evaluation, for belonging wholly to oneself. The harmony of couples gives way to groups, changing associations. Ideas bom of one, nurtured by two, are brought to the open light of diverse opinions, there to grow or to be absorbed in greater thoughts. 4

The Yearbook staff proudly dedicates the 1965 Laurel Leaf to one who has given unselfishly of her time to Franklin High School. First of all as a teacher who led many girls into their first year; secondly as a friend who helped students entering for the first time understand the principles and appreciate the spirit that is Franklin High School. As a teacher, she instilled in the students an awareness that health, physical fitness and, most of all, a sense of fair play and sportsmanship were necessary if the student was to be prepared to enter a fast changing society! She practiced these principles in the classroom and in the athletic program. While a coach at Franklin High School, her teams compiled an excellent record. In her eight years as coach, she led the girls’ basketball teams to four conference titles. In the other four years her teams finished in second place. In conference games she won eighty- nine and lost only ten. Because she has taught so much, and guided so many and because of the support she gives now, it is truly a time to honor MRS. ROSE CORBIN. 6
