OPQLUOI' . . . lhe nexl flying mos! like living nne's life over again seems to be a recolledimz of that life. and to make fha! recollection as durable as ,ros- rible by putting it dozen in writing. As BENIAMIN FRANKLIN wrote these words in the opening pages of his AUTO- BIOGRIAPI-IY, his long life of service to mankind was drawing to a close. He had determined to set down for posterity a brief record of the main events in his life. As we the CLASS OF 1952 write these words in the foreword of our KEY, our brief stay at Franklin High is fast drawing to a close. We have determined to set down for future generations of Franklinites a record of the deeds and activities of our graduating class. 1' 'ii SAM rwrrout l - A I il f In june, 1752, BENIAMIN FRANKLIN attached a metal key to a kitestring during a thunderstorm and proved that lightning is an electrical discharge. This experiment was repeated by famous European scientists be- fore the royalty of the Old World and brought Franklin's many and varied scien- tific researches to the attention of Europc's learned. We have chosen BENjAMlN FRANK- LIN'S AUTOBIOGRAPHY, the theme of our KEY, to express the parallel between Franklin's life and times and our own on this the two hundredth anniversary of the famous experiment' from which our year- book takes its name.
