My young friends of the class of '43: It has been an honor and a joy and a pleasure to journey with you along the short road which now forever lies behind you, a road truly strewn with the garlands of happiness, fellowship and friendship, and now at its end you have at- tained the prize, the cherished diploma, which we sincerely hope will prove to be an incentive to climb to higher and greater achievements in the oncoming years But what of the longer and more difficult road ahead? VVill you accept the challenge of the great fight for victory in the global war now raging. and of the greatest reconstruction period in all the world's history? The material needs of the world are indeed great, but in far greater measure is its need of a self-sacrificing service to mankind, to help lift to a high plane of faith and courage, liberty and peace the down-trodden races of humanity. Keep firmly intrenched in heart and mind this truth: we serve self and our God best by serving others. Let this be your first consideration as you journey along this roadg then as you come to its sunset you will receive the grand prize of an abiding peace and contentment of service well rendered and of work well done.
