Y CLASS HISTORY To be a Senior f For some it brings happiness and for some it brings sorrow, but for everyone it is a time for memories. As we take a glance over the last four years, we recall many events, experiences, and the friendships we've enjoyed throughout these years. But, suddenly, it's all over. These four years have ,been much too short. In September, 1956, the class of 1959 started what seemed an endless jour- ney. We were entering F.H.S. as freshmen. There was the usual amount of confusion and nervousness. As we listened to our principal, Mr. Cashman, he soon put us at our ease. After we got acquainted, we settled down to get off to a good start. The first deciding point was the election of class officers. We chose Penelope Pope, President, Richard Wiser, Vice-President, Frank St. Pierre, Treas- urer, and Barbara Edmunds, Secretary. We could not have made our Freshman year a success without the help of Miss Dollolf, our advisor. To make us really a part of the high school, the Seniors were kind enough to initiate us to the theme of Davey Crockett which was the craze of the day. In the Winter Camival the Freshmen didn't win, but we ave the upperclassmen a run while working for our candidate, Barbara Edmunds. Our only dance was held in the spring to the theme- of 'April Frolic. A class trip to Wellington Beach ended our first year. We retumed in the fall with the feeling that we were one step closer to our goal. We elected our class officers - Frank St. Pierre became our President, Pen- elope Pope, Vice-President, Barbara Edmunds, Treasurer, and Pat Hemeon, Sec- reta . Mrs. Kidder, with her untiring efforts, led us through our second year. Ourrfvlig event, the Holiday Hop, was held during the Christmas Holiday - Silver Bells was our theme. We soon arrived once again at the Winter Camival season. We chose Barbara Edmunds as our queen, we showed the juniors that the had some real competition by placing second in the carnival. Record hops ancf, food sales contributed to our ever-growing treasury. On a sunny day in June the year drew to an end and we were shocked to realize that we had completed one half of our high school career. After a busy summer we retumed to be the ever-looked-up-to Up per Class- men. Our first job again was the election of class oflicers who were Barbara Edmunds, President, Richard Keegan, Vice-President, Penelope Pope, Secretary, Frank St. Pierre, Treasurer. Miss Lemire led us through our third year as class advisor. One of the biggest events was getting our class rings. The Winter Car- nival gave Gloria Boisclair the honor of representing our class. I guess we didn't work ard enough because the Sophomores went ahead of us by one point. Soon after, all our thoughts and ideas went into the planning of our lunior Prom, Moonlight and Roses. Then in june we realized that the time had come for us to start making definite plans for our future. We decided it would be better for us to elect our Senior class officers and yearbook staff at the end of our Junior year. Our leaders for the Senior class were Richard Wiser, President, Barbara Ed- munds, Vice-President, Penny Pope, Secretary, and Frank St. Pierre, Treasurer. Then we walked out the door realizing the next time we entered' we would be Seniors, and it would be our last year. We really felt like Seniors when, in September to the tune of Ivy League, we received the Freshmen into high school. Hoola-Hoops were the 'entertainment for the evening. Next was the Sadie Hawkins Dance, at which Margo Barry and Dick Shaw were chosen Daisy Mae and Li'1 Abner. The rest of the year sped by with the Carnival Ball, our banquet, class day, and the dedication and receiving of the yearbook with its many memories. Mrs. Bilodeau was tireless and helpful in advising us in this last important year. Then the big moment came when we had to take that short walk across the stage to receive the little piece of paper which meant that we had come to the end of four years of hopes and dreams. 27
