things just flew and the first thing we knew, we were coming back from Sunapee and our class trip. Finally Seniors! Now it was our turn to run the school, be looked up to, set the example and enjoy the countlessprivileges of upperclass- men. At last, after all three years, it was our turn to sit in the front section. But, as we trooped into the gym on that first day, underneath all the hilarity,we all had our serious thoughts. This was our last first of school assembly, the last time we'd be handed the Your School folder that we'd always sort of laughed at. Our last year and we had to make the most of it. After this year, the kids, the old gang, would never be quite the same again. After four long years of trying, Dave finally became our leader and no one couldhave done a better job. Mike Gignac won the Vice-Presi- dency after a close call for the Presidency, Jane went into her fourth year as class Secretary, and Jeanne Routhier served as Treasurer. Everything was angora trimmed that year, the Armistice was signed in Korea and Eartha Kitt and Eddie Fisher swept the country. We chose the yearbook staff, heard Ebb Tide on every juke box, rushed to Poblenz for pictures, sponsored the Paris Cafe Dance, and time just seemed to be flying so fast we couldn't keep up with it. Remember the Senior-Faculty game and the magazine sales? And, oh yes, the Anti-Gone-Girls Club . Who could forget Macbeth and Twelfth Night ? And the Sadie Hawkins Dance. And remember how we used to do the Bunny Hop around the gym? The boys never did care for that, did they? The school play was the lnner Willy and underneath I guess we were allconscious that this was our last schoolplay as mem- bers of the High School. Remember Initiation, with the theme of Dragnet? We had so much fun and work to cram into so little time. All too soon we'd hear Pomp and Circumstance and ina few minutes it would be all over--everything. Oh,iflcould only close my eyes and drift back on a rescending tide of time, back to the joys and sorrows, back to those days of school proms, ball games, loves and laughs, if only---but, no---not even the strongest wish can turn back the hands of time. So, with a sigh, I'1l close my book, but no matter what life has in store for me, underneath everything else, a tiny corner of my heart will never be closed to Franklin High and my days there--my fondest memories of all. 30
