H, Onion corsages, upside down skirts, greasy shoe polish, skinned noses, smeared lipstick, shouted commands, embarrassed giggles .... This was Freshman Day. The day of Homecoming was also the day that the Seniors took ecstatic delight in exercising their superiority, ordering their stooges to make utter idiots out of themselves. Raw eggs were forced down unwilling throats, lipsticlc left evident traces, even the teachers were proposed to, and countless peanuts traveled via nose all the way from the gym to the art room. Everyone seemed to find the day most amusing, except the Freshmen, who even after all harm was done, agreed there were some slightly amusing memories in the day. Page 46 X . to lzefp as assimilate the facts. ADMINISTRATION AND FACULTY This year the faculty of Franklin High School has been enlarged to thirty-two teachers, a guidance director, and a dietician. There are departments of Social Studies, Mathematics, Language, English, Science, Home Eco- nomics, and Vocational Subjects. Courses in art, band, chorus, speech, and physical education are offered. Be- sides their regular classes, the teachers have extra- curricular activities. They act as money changers and ticket collectors at ball games and add their voices to the throng of cheering spectators. They sponsor club ac- tivities, stand in receiving lines, and act as chaperones in numerous activities. MRS.
