For one day, the freshmen became the most privileged people in school. Boys came decked out in dresses, hats, handbags, and make-up, while overalls, shirts, and workshoes made up the girls' attire, The girls were allowed to come to school without make-up, and all freshmen were permitted to carry out the orders that the seniors had spent hours preparing. The day was climaxed by a parade through Franklin fea- turing the freshmen. The freshmen emerged Victorious having more fun than the seniors and becoming a real part of the Rebel family. Smile Liana! Who styles your hair? Then the homecoming parade through Franklin gave the freshmen a chance to display their finery. The annual F.F.A. barnwarming has be- come a tradition at Franklin High School. On a Saturday night in the late fall, boys in gaily checked gingham shirts bring their dates dressed in bright dresses with swirling skirts to the gym, which is transformed into a huge barn bedecked in blue and gold streamers for the occasion. Mr. Sutton, being a talented square dance caller, leads the group in many colorful and exhausting dances. The queen and her attendants are presented and reign over the festivities from a throne of hay. Then come the other events such as the ladies' nail-driving con- test, the cutest couple contest, a Cakewalk, and the famous greased pig chase. Thank you, boys, for giving us this tradition. 58 i 1 , Q -'Q ,a Square dancing for all was the call for that Saturday night Miss Anderson, left and Mrs. Edwards, right prove that ladies can drive a nail as well as teach English. Each year the Franklin High Men's Club sponsors the Rebel Bowl Game. The two schools playing in the game and Franklin High are represented by a queen and an attendant. Sixteen girls from each school are selected by their respective football teams. The two from each school who sell the greatest number of tickets are chosen as queen and attendant. This year Columbia won over Glencliff 20-14.
