This year FHS had a very active band. When the year started it looked as if our band might be in a little trouble, but then Mr. Bruce Femling came. He got everybody back on the job. The public was certainly impressed with our first concert. Not only because of the music but because of the mood the decorations brought about. Early in the spring the band traveled to Dilworth to put on a concert there. The trip was some 240 miles, but the music still came out in the Franklin style and quality. At the district band con- test the band received three star-rating on the three songs they played. There were also eight stars for solos and ensembles received star-ratings. All in all the Franklin band has accomplished a great deal this year. Flute Solo: Martha Rodvik Officers: Curt Sather-Pres. , Geri Eisenbarth-Sec., Dave Munsell-V. Pres. Trombone Solo: Dave Munsell

It was a long, hard road, but with a lot of work and a few of Mr. Femling's tricks like holding a chair in front of us while we sang and his directing ability, we made it. After a good Christmas concert, the choir started to prepare for the Tomahawk Conference Festival. We received superior ratings on Feelin and Sweet Gingerbread Man . But our best performance was the evening concert at Fairfax as we proved to be the best chorus there. In the words of the Morgan director, Franklin stole the show. The year also included a long trip to Dilworth, a standing ovation at the best spring concert in a long time, and the final appearance of the year at the graduation of our departing seniors, who we will surely miss. 24 Soprano Solo: Teri Crain
