This year FHS had a very active band. When the year started it looked as if our band might be in a little trouble, but then Mr. Bruce Femling came. He got everybody back on the job. The public was certainly impressed with our first concert. Not only because of the music but because of the mood the decorations brought about. Early in the spring the band traveled to Dilworth to put on a concert there. The trip was some 240 miles, but the music still came out in the Franklin style and quality. At the district band con- test the band received three star-rating on the three songs they played. There were also eight stars for solos and ensembles received star-ratings.
