Right: Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy, Caroline and John, Jr. leave Washington for Christmas in Florida. in Review— President Kennedy and then Vice-President Johnson (second from right) met with leaders of the August “March on Wash- ingtoni” dramatizing the nation’s leading domestic issue in 1963. Major Gordon Cooper received the Distinguished Service Medal from President Kennedy at the White House in May, following Cooper’s 22 orbit flight and manually controlled re-entry. With the assassination of John F. Kennedy of Massachusetts, youngest president m US history, the country lost a highly-regarded and remarkably capable statesman and administrator. President DeGaulle of Franee, saluting, stands with German Chancellor Erhard, right, and President Lubke, as some heads of state gathered m tribute to the late President Kennedy. President Kennedy, and soon-to-be-retired, Ger- man Chancellor Adenauer met in Bonn during Kennedy’s successful ten-day tour of Western Europe. THE ATOM PUBLISHED BY THE SENIOR CLASS OF 1964 OF FRANKLIN PUBLIC SCHOOL DEDICA TION As we look back upon our school days we noticed that there are two firsts for Franklin this year, a trophy in two sports and new addition to the school. The athletes of the school chose a good year to develops and put Franklin on the map. The year when the facilities will be available. The new addition consists of a home economics department, a shop and agri- cultural department and a new gymnasium. The Tigers came in first twice this year. In football, the team capped the conference trophy, and in basketball they won the conference trophy, were rated num- ber one in the district, and continuied on to take the runner-up of the district. For these reasons we would like to honor our annual to everyone who made it possible for Franklin's firsts. In appreciation we would like to dedicate the annual to our parents, to the administration, the athletes, and the school board. Franklin is proud of the school and the team. Mr. H.A. Mahler, Mrs. F.
