Agile custodians, kitchen crews provide palatable environment Keeping the whole setting in smooth operation is a round- the-clock iob for the people ranking custodial, cafeteria status: Three thousand students, a 'Few of them thoughtless and careless about litter and with little respect for property, made the building look messier than usual this year. Custodians fought a losing battle repairing broken tables, desks, lights, pencil sharpeners, sweeping tioors, washing lockers and walls. Lunch preparations began before daylight, reached a cli- max in a mad two-hour serving period, ended with clean-up of the kitchen late in the afternoon. And part of the kitchen had to be cleared by 1:30 daily for use of Cgmmercigl Foods, Hamburger Line remained one of the 'Favorite gourmet spots for Hungry Franklinites at noon. Mrs. leCureux and Mrs. Elliott served, collected respectively. This is the way we stir the soup, stir the soup, stir the soup . . . . Mrs. Starkey probably wasn't saying those words exactly, but she was hard at work in the soup pot on cz normal day in our cafeteria kitchen.
