Young Hap Youngs Business Ed classes explore as flaring enthusiasm builds lt might be said that the Business Education Department is hiding behind a false front. That's literally true with Ben's Corner, where boys from Wood and Allied Materials pooled their talents last spring constructing a wooden store front. This is the store by Franklin business students and their adviser- teachers to order, display, and sell school supplies. Changes in the curriculum have made the old Bus. Ed. image another false front. It isn't typing-bookkeeping-shorthand any- more, although all of these subjects are taught. Now it's Com- puter Programming and Data Processing, where students have to learn a whole new language. Then they have to learn how to feed the machines. The new image also includes some busy hours in retailing and advertising, poster, showcases. Three or four dozen students who have done well in Busi- ness Ed. Classes are accepted each year for the Co-op Program: supervised work experience with both grade and pay. Ben's Corner specials attracted many eager customs-rs. such as Larry Harper iopposite pagei who admired the heavy iackets.
