Officers, Council cheer eniors through turbulent, spirited year After three years of hitting the books, worrying about grades, fulfilling requirements for college and other after- high-school plans, the officers could be forgiven for acting a little giddy the first time they tried on the cap-and-gown trappings of graduation. Graduation! The magic, wonderful word! And this year we even got to keep our mortar boards. Senior year culminated three years of other busy hours, too. Each one was led by a set of active officers and several dedicated class council members. This year's Council supervised the construction of a Smokey Bear Homecoming float, and then turned its attention to another welcome for returning alumni, the annual Open House on the day before Christmas vacation. After the holiday breaks, and exams, Senior boys licked the faculty in the annual basketball contest. Then they turned eyes eagerly toward the spring fling. February brought orders for caps and gowns, graduation announcements. Suddenly it was spring vacation, then Honors Convocation, then our own fand the school's firstj yearbook distribution night, then the PROM! Commencement should have been anti-climactic. But it wasn't. As always, it was the highlight of three high school years.
