Straining every muscle, .lunior Bob Rogalski reached forward to gain every inch that he could get. His determination and great effort helped him reach a new school record in the long lump last year. Bob Dietz, with his continually improving style, lofted himself over the crossbar, His consistency lifted him to a third place NWSAA finish in 1968. omni econd place in league crowns persistent Wrestlers Highlighting the wrestling season was Sophomore Bruce Geier's fourth place finish in the State Meet in 95 pound weight class. Such a record for a Sophomore is phenomenal, two more years of fine wrestling are promised. Senior Frank Rekieta also qualified for State. One of the happier moments came when Franklin grapplers proved city superiority by defeating Stevenson and Bentley in a quadrangular meet with Waterford. Franklin promises to be a Northwest-Suburban power- house for years to come as many lettermen return. This year's second place League finish offered a goal, Victorious again, Forrest Ault was congratulated by Steve Watt and Robb Leggat as he walked oft the mat. Varsity wrestlers watched as one of their number battled it out with his opponent. The whole team did an about-face this year and took second place in League. Larry Lee labovej rolled back on his foe in hopes of pinning him. Reach! ing through to grab a leg, Doug Lackey tbelowj outmatched his North Farmington rival. Coach Kokenakes talked to Varsity wrestlers Frank Rekieta, a State Meet competitor forftwo years. Frank was one of the outstanding wrestlers in the area as well as in League. His quality, plus that of the other varsity wrestlers, helped the team have one of the best seasons in the history of Franklin competition. , fi -i .... 1
