Bats, hunts, hase runners blend to capture championship The Patriot baseball team concluded its 1967- 68 season by capturing Franklin's fourth league championship. Graduating seniors Denny Hop- kins, Mike LeBlanc, Dave Paden, and Bill Hell- stein were named to the NWSAA All League team and Dennis Fisher received an honorable mention. After accumulating a 10-6 overall record, the Franklin fielders were eliminated in the second round of the Les Anders' tournament, losing to Northville in the 14th inning. Returning lettermen, supplemented by new recruits, formed a promising team for the 1968 season. The new coach, Mr. Ron Hellier, succeed- ing Mr. Ford, officiated at daily fielding and batting practices. With the renovation of the Franklin diamond, home games becarne a real- ity. Construction crews leveled fields, built up the mound, and repaired baselines. secs.
