1 jzm tunney - cz man 0 actzon 12 Franklin High School has a unique quality found only in a few schools. lt has the unique ability to accept all people. Franklin gives one a feeling of belonging. Some acquire this feeling right from the startg others struggle through their sophomore and junior years, eventually discovering the feeling of belonging as a senior, some, sadly, may never find it. ln my year at Franklin High School, l have been fortunate to find it early. Each of you-each student, each teacher, each member of our school and community-has given me the feeling of being a part of Franklin. Indeed, l am grateful to you. l cite this personal experience as an example to anyone, who may be listening, of the importance of belonging. To have pride in one's self, in one's work and in one's associations is a first step toward finding peace and happiness. Far too often in one's life, a person gets the feeling that he is unimportant. It has been refreshing to see that Franklin High School helps make everyone become a part of the school. Perhaps this idea is best expressed in a quote from DESIDERATA: You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars, you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace with your soul.
