Sophomore officers-Armida, Norma, Nicholas and Gloria examine the sweat shirts and beanies before delivery. Soplzomnres Late August marked the return ot an ambitious group ot Sophomores. Under the leadership of Mr. Moran they elected a capable group ot otticers. Plans for the year's activities were quickly made and committees were appointed. The sale ot sweat shirts and beanies added a tidy sum to the class treasury. Many ot the group found places on the athletic teamsp others, who were musically inclined, ioined the band or the choruses. The remainder gave their support by attending games and by participating in club activities. The class sponsored a skating party at Skateland after an eniayable Christmas vacatior, The event was a hnancial success. OFFICERS President ..... .... A rmida Miranda Vice President . .. .. Nicholas Yewcic Secretary . . Norma Bennett Treasurer . . . Gloria Hildebrand February's social activities included a Valentine party. Dancing and games featured the enter- tainment. A delighttul luncheon concluded the evening's program. The class lent a hand to the Juniors by serving as hostesses and ushers at the prom. The end ot the school terrn came quickly and rne maiority are anxiously looking torvvard to next ,August WHSYN they will return as Juniors. THE CLASS OF '61 HAS GAINED CONFIDENCE AND POISE

,1 'U ,0 if KX NFO' Smiles express the satisfaction of Robert, Edward, Paulette, and Patricia Freshmen The biggest moment of their young lives came to those students who had successfully met the requirement of the eighth grade and who enrolled as green Freshmen the hrst day of the i958- l959 school term. The bays cast anxious eyes over the football schedule, each carrying in his heart the hope that he might become a part of a victorious eleven. The girls, on the other hand, eagerly answered the call for candidates for the cheerleading squad. After weeks of apparent confusion, the students settled down to become an inseparable part of Franklin l-ligh, New faces soon proved to be as their skating party date is approved. Paulette Havrilesky friends, new subiects became sources of fascinating knowledge. A skating party was the only source of revenue for the class. The parties and dances were of special interest. Class plays, assembly programs, and movies were intriguing to these newcomers. Each activity seemed to arouse greater conhdence and greater interest in school life.
