I saw the sea put on its dress of blue mid-summer lovliness, Green arms of pine and Juniper. I heard the wind call Out and Say! MGet up now, it is today. WILD THING By-JAMES H. EVANS Floating, dashing, from tree to tree Treading over land which no man has ever seeng Is the door closed to me? Shall I ever have that which is yours? The mountains over which the waterfall pours: The falling dewg The crimson skysg All of these things I pursueg wild thing show me the key, Show me the happiness which can be mine, Tell me, shall it ever be? WAITING By-CLARENCE OLIVER In a dream that I recall A day in autumn when the leaves fall. I went to the bottom of a hill, To wait for a boy named Bill. I waited until the people turned out their light, And all the little boys put up their bikes. Then I went home to rest my head, In my little brown and black hed. LOVE By-MARY HUGHES Love is a thing unknown, Unconquered canyon of loneliness Where your farest thoughts roam. Where there is no thought but your own. SHARING By-SANDRA ERICKS The world is filled with bitterness, There's not much love out there, The greatest problem of today, We don't know how to share. If sister and brother starts today, By leaming how to care, Then sooner or later, eventually, We all will leam to share. The purpose of our being here, As simple as it may beg God the father of us all, We love and worship thee. AUTUMN By-ALICE HARPER There must be frost on those fiddles under the moon, Autumn is coming, autumn is coming soon. The last of the crickets push the dry leaves Before each do-Or. Seeing the moonlight over the hayfieldsg They turn to their fiddles once mo-re. DIRGE . By-MARILYN ROBINSON A strong wind, moving fast, Blowing trees and grass up from the ground. To look at the flowers, being moved from place to place, How sad a picture it is. The clouds are hanging low With a sad black color. The trees are without leaves, The sun does not shineg neither will the stars come out. APOLLO By-BRENDA MUTONG There I see nxnning through the trees A man running after his love to be. He ran so hard to catch his love But in a flash she had turn into a tree I touched her hair which had turned into leaves, Her blood had turn into sap. I put the leaves altogether and made a laurel-wreath SPECTRUM By-BARBARA THOMAS Beads that flow like a sunshine ray, Colors that diffuse in every way Enhances a flickering enchantment And falls like jewels so content. Dim lights that lure with a shadowy dew, That sprinkles the sigh of a hue. As fire beauty curves beams, This is what a spectrum means. A DIRGE ny-DEBORAH LYNN WILLIAMS The time has come when we should sigh, And kiss our only beloved good-bye. For he has passed a way to rest in peace And now his gentle heart is at ease. For all his sufferings and woe, Has he to suffer anymore.
