CR Division is responsible for ensuring the rapid and reliable transfer of information between the ship and the outside world, including other ships, aircraft, and shore facilities. To accomplish this task we employ sophisticated electronic equipment capable of communicating world wide. Twenty four hours a day, at sea and in port, the radiomen maintain these voices and teletype circuits, processing over 1300 operational messages per day - in excess of 200,000 during the deployment. They also provide, personal Class E service for the handling of telegrams to and from families, and of course, press information is copied from various sources to provide the ship with the latest news including sports, music and world events.
