CAPTAIN, THOMAS W. HOPKINS Graduated from U. S. Naval Academy in 1932. Won his wings in 1935. - Commanded the Roosevelt from October 1, 1956 to October 1, 1957. Previously commanded the USS Norton Sound and U. S. Naval Air Station, Anacostia, D. C. Has considerable guided missiles background, in OP-57, and as Director of Research and Development Division, Armed Forces Staff College. CAPTAIN FREDERICK L. ASHWORTH Graduated from U. S. Naval Academy in 1933. Designated Naval Aviator in 1936. Achieved the rank of Captain in 1952. Assumed command of the Roosevelt October 2, 1957. Has had much experience in atomic energy programs of the Navy and Atomic Energy Commission. , Was officer in tactical command of atomic bomb attack on Nagasaki in August, 1945.
