Her hangar deck was filled with shops, her sides cluttered with scaffolding, and hundreds of hard-hatted yard workmen swarmed all over her. Building 50 was the headquarters for the crew and the great task of converting paper plans into real- ity began. Files from the Old FDR were pulled out of storage, spare parts and allowance items were dusted off in the warehouses, and the liberty was good, even though the weather wasn't. 1 l
