We are approaching the end of the best year we have had in the history of Franklin County Training School. Yet it is just the beginning of an era for this school and the community it serves. With the support of the patrons and students and the development of a school spirit that will be intensely proud of our physical plant, the school program, and the student body, this school willdevelop into an outstanding organization rendering untold value to the people it serves. Congratulations to the senior class, Annual Staff and its directors on the splendid service rendered in editing this book. Sincerely, T.E.C. MR. THOMAS E, CONWAY Assistant Principal Science and Mathematics Coach The real use of knowledge is this: that we should dedicate that reason which was given to us by God for the use and advantage of Man. — Bacon I offer you this quotation from Bacon. Read it, digest it, and use it well. L. S.B. MISS LUCY S. BRADSHAW : Dean of Girls Mathematics The following quotation is taken from the News and Observer, Nov- ember 8, 1959: “Jt is not the headlines that sell a newspaper nor the addine machines in its business office that keep it alive. It is integrity, reliability, a dedi- cation to its purpose and an interest in its readers, and it is something | called heart. To the young men of F.C. T.S., I would say, read again what is nec- : essary for a successful newspaper and you may rest assured that if you have : the same qualifications, you will not hesitate to put your foot outeven | though you may not know where it may come down. ‘ O.PuR : MR. OLIVER T. ROBINSON Dean of Boys Mathematics, Science Social Studies Seniors, you have reached the first great milestone in your lives, may it serve as a beacon to spur you on to attain many more. In years to come, as I browse through this memorial, the FRACOTRASCHO, I want to feel that both your and my life have been made richer by the contacts we made during your stay in high school here. M.
