Football Team was called together Sent caer 14, 1948, to start , illing for wheat turned ont to be quite a successful season. 2 ith the persistency and hardy cooperation of both coaches and the team, October 1, found us FB traveling to Henderson to play the powerful and high svirited Henderson Institute - sleven, a S; none conference game, which was lost by a margin of 7-0. zs Phe following week of October 3, was a busy one for the team of F. C. T. S. With conetant 4 : defensive and offensive drilling, on Friday October 8, we were on the road agein going to Chapel B Hill where we were defeated 30-0. = f Something had to be done. The following week, we traveled te Nashville to play NW. ¢. T. S., Kg the F. L. ¢. Champions of '47 , our first conference game. it, a shifted Line-up, K ynger team, we defeated Nashville by a score of 13-6. k § r 20, Henderson Institute team ceme to v us. This time we had a little surprise for 2 : We held, cha sh alee tackled, and kicked until even the spectators were punch drunk. We won $13 the game 7-6, which left us first place in conference standings. October 29, we had fanily trouble. The veterans of F. C. T. S., thought they had the better teem, on giving them a chance to prove themselves, and eleminate the family feud, we defeated = i = November 12, we ware the euest of ¥. C. T. A large number of men, Veterans of “orld War TI., came to the school in the Summer of 1947, and sought permission to be enrolled in a Bricklayine Class under the G. I. Bill of Rights , ANTM CANTANOVTON AN TANANON(ONIENT A request from this school to the ¥. LNONO)NGINGINONGINGING) eterans Administration for permission to begin such course Was approved by the Veterans Administration and the State Department of Publie NGG ND) Instruetion. The Veterans Administration pays to the sehool a certain sum of money for each man enrolled in the classes as tuition. This money is used to purchase material, and pay salaries of the instructors, mihi ll and the men are being taueht the Brickleyineg and Building Trades as they erect the evensatum, When it is completed, the gynmasium is planned to be modern in every respect, there will be six classrooms in the basement, showers, lockers, and a furnace room.
