SENIOR CLASS HISTORY As trmrd green freshmen rn the fall of 1950 we started bag and baggage on a long enchanung Journey through the prcturesque Ole South At the F C H S depot our Journey began wrth Freshman rnrtrauon We were lost durrng the f1rst part of thrs excursron but after choostng Cessna Skaggs as our leader we followed along pretty well for the rest of the lap Hav mg elected Carolyn Warren and Frances McK1nney as freshman cheerleaders we felt that we were at least dorng a small part to make thrs a wonderful trrp Norma Jo Mason was selected as freshman attendant rn our annual football homecomrng game After a brtef rest we came to a famous Rebel park and Charles Owens was chosen to gurde us through rt Just then we hearda lotof yelltng and berng currous rushed to frnd the cause of rt There camped around a Rebel can non a pep meeung was berng held Jackre Burton Frances McK1nney and Carolyn Warren were the sophomore cheer leaders tnsprrrng the group of travelers A lrttle later we moved down to the football freld and were Just rn trme for the crowmng ceremony of the homecommg game We scoured around tryrng to f1nd who the sophomore football at tendant was and were rnformed that Norma Io Mason had recerved thrs honor agarn We decxded to spend a few days rn one of the many Rebel rnns and ftnally regrstered at the Junror Inn As we walked tn we were greeted wrth that famous Southern hosprtalrty of the manager Charles Owens It seemed that qurte a number of actrvrtres were planned for our beneflt We walked rnto the recreatton room where cheerleaders Iackte Burton Norma Io Mason and Carolyn Warren were rehearsrng the students for the brg game Next a brg parade was staged as part of the celebratton We d1scovered that Mrss Mason was servrng for her thrrd trme as an at tendant The next day we attended a play rn the Iumor I.nn called Lrttle Mrss Bobby Sox We were dellghted on learnrng that the Juniors had planned somethtng else an outrng at Camp Elklore for the Semors We had a wonderful time and were tnvited to attend the Jumor Semor entertarnment to be grven durrng the next and frnal part of our trrp As the last sessron loomed ahead of us we realrzed rt was gorng to be a hard busy pull but most of us were determined to stay wtth II F1rst we had to select a leader for thrs group and stnce everyone agreed that Charles Owens had done such a wonderful Job for the two precedmg excursrons he was elected agatn This large group of of the Student Body As usual we had our homecoming game and thrs trme Norma Jo Mason after three years be came queen Peggy Baker was grven the honor of berng semor attendant Also on thrs lap we had a Harvest Fesuval in wh1chJ1mmySm1th was chosen by the people of Franklm County to have the honor of berng krng Many senrors also were tn the court of thrs gala affarr On passmg through a town called Mt Pleasant we vlewed a large srgn over the football stadrum with the words Phosphate Bowl As we saw a few of our students standing rn lrne we declded to attend this event Ftrst we saw the semor cheerleaders Iackre Burton and Frances McK1nney grvmg much enthusrasuc support to the team We were very exerted durmg thrs close game and at the f1nal whrstle we were overJoyed be cause that spectacular Rebel team from Franklm County had won over the Hay Long Trgers Jimmy Smrth was pre Sellled 8 Il'0phy f0l' being named The Most Valuable Player of dns gutgtandlng game Haylng rested from Lhrg eprsode we attended a few electrons Semor superlatrves were selected and then txtles were placed on three other senrors Mxss F C H S Norma Jo Mason Most Handsome Boy Cessna Skaggs Mr Rebel Jrmmy Smrth Due honors also were grven to Marron Hams who after four years of study and leadershrp was selected as D A R representauve At the end of an excellent basketball season Bobble Ann Tumer was crowned basketball queen and her semor attendant was Norma Jo Mason Thrs semor class also had a big magazme carnpargn and sold more mag azmes than any precedrng class rn the htstory of F C H S We attended a Semor play whrch we thoroughly enJoyed and then we attended the ouung for the semors sponsored by our successors the junigrg Most ofour students fared well durlng this memorial Journey through the Ole South although some became dts couraged due to tests others moved from th1s fine county and st1ll a great number marrxed We hope our teachers have notbecame too travel worn by our acts we thank them for all the effort they have put forth rn helpmg us through thts trlp B1ll1e Ann Scharber Wrnona McBee students had to have otherleadersg therefore, Clinton Swafford and Sue Hawkins were chosen as president and secretary ' : ll ' ' I . . , ll 1 L Il ' U1 S ll .
