52 Health and Physical Education JOAN JOHNSTON B.S., Lincoln Memorial University Health and Physical Education Freshman health and physical education courses teach students the fun that comes from being physi- cally fit. Health emphasizes physical fitness through knowledge of the body and how it works. Physical education teaches health through activity—volley- ball, basketball, tumbling, exercises, and track. Mrs. Johnston is shown in the classroom where much of health education is accomplished. JEAN S. Student Teachers First semester student leachers: Charlotte Arnall, Pat Stuart, Mary Elizabeth Willett, Valerie Vohard, Nancy Dudgeon, Ruby King, and Judy Sciarce. Student teachers ar e a welcome ad- dition to FCHS classrooms. Young, fresh, and bubbling with enthusiasm and new ideas, they often fascinate their students with their knowledge. Student teachers at Franklin County come from Georgetown College and the University of Kentucky; they leave to go to numerous high schools (al- though some like us so much that they return to us as teachers). All students join in love and appreciation for our wonderful student teachers. Second semester student teachers: Martha Shropshire, Carol Garland, Judy Whitmer, Mary Pitman, David White, James Johnson, Dennis Lehmann, Phil McLaughlin, Doris Evans, Carol Williams, Carole Leu, and Linda Price.
